Displaying a real-time preview of graded images with multi-camera recording

IS-mini fully maximizes the effect on live events, music performance, and sporting events.
With our own technology, FUJIFILM has developed IDT (Input device Transform) and color management functions, which enables you to equalize the image color tone recorded from various cameras regardless of the make and models.
IDT minimizes the differences between the various image signals used in multi-camera situations and transforms the colors in real-time.
Furthermore, it is possible for IS-mini to load pre-set LUTs, for a particular scene and apply a single Look to multiple cameras simultaneously.
Because the graded image is output in real-time, the Looks are organized and created on-set. This makes it is possible to check the image and put it on the air immediately.

  • IS-mini can be connected to a PC via USB with the possibly of controlling up to 10 cameras at the same time.

  • The possibility of up to 100 cameras can be controlled at the same time. When the IS-mini is used with the IS-100, In this use case, IS-mini should be connected to the IS-100 and its controlling PC via an Ethernet connection.

Episodic

Creating unique images effectively, while maximizing dynamic range recorded in LOG

There have been an increasing number of situations in using large format single sensor cameras in recording episodic work, despite having many restrictions.
Due to this trend, the numbers of the episodic production companies that are challenging the limits creative image creation has increased.
Postproduction grading is a major burden on episodic budgets and time. This becomes an obstacle even as more producers and cinematographers utilize LOG recording to maximize creative control and the dynamic range of their cameras.

The IS-mini enables the user to preview the LOG recording in real time on-set.
The IS-mini enables the production to proceed with this workflow as a conventional process by grading the camera's HD-SDI output via IS-mini without the need to render immediately after the recording.
The same workflow can be applied on-set in a multi-camera situation as well.
The ability to receive immediate feedback on a scene's Look via the color transform information (LUT) after recording, eases the speed and quality of the postproduction process. It also helps preserve the artistic vision designed on-set and improves the overall efficiency of the entire production process.

Perusing the best Look on-set while providing feedback to VFX

Conventionally, it was common to preview the image in LOG or video gamma. However, applying the IS-mini to the workflow enables the user to preview an image that is the closest to the finished vision.
This makes it easier to record colored dailies and obtain a matching image between the dailies and the finished image by exporting a LUT.
IS-100 also enables users to utilize a LUT for VFX software. This option allows the user to integrate a consistent color reproduction workflow throughout the entire process of recording, editing, VFX and final grading.

Increasing workflow efficiency and improving the quality of desktop motion picture production

Conventionally, LOG recording was mainly used in recording feature films and commercial work due to its vast amount of data, time and cost of grading.
However, as the cost of productions devices falls, the amount of productions using LOG recording has increasing in desktop motion picture production.

By using IS-mini for recording and utilizing onset grading, color correction time is shortened after editing thus enabling a move to a more effective workflow..
Even though the size of desktop production staff is usually small, they can easily take advantage of the same tools which provide wide dynamic range and creative looks found on bigger budget productions. This of couse leads to a dramatically higher quality of finished work.
